3 Ways to Make Your Hair Color Last Longer

Do you want to hide your head in between colorings? Do you have a selection of hats and scarves you use to cover that new growth? Keeping your hair color looking great may seem like a challenge, but the good news is, it doesn't have to be! There are several easy things you can do to make sure your hair color stays looking its best between salon visits. Take a peek below at how easy it is, then retire those hats and scarves to the closet for good!

3 Ways to Make Your Hair  Color Last Longer

Tip #1: Take a better shower.

So what exactly is a better shower? A better shower (well, better for your hair coloring anyways!) is one that is warm, not scalding hot. It is also one taken using a shower head that filters away any damaging minerals that can harm your hair color. Be mindful of these tips when you shower and you will see a difference.

Tip #2: Change your shampoo routines.
Don't be afraid to shampoo every other day instead of everyday, and be sure to focus on conditioning your hair a little more. Hair that is moisturized and well nourished will always hold color better than hair that is dry and lacking nutrients. So go ahead, get a little dirty!

Tip #3: Try some SPF for your hair.
SPF isn't just for protecting your skin, it is ideal for hair as well. Try Aveda's Sun Care Protective Hair Veil and enjoy a protective "veil" that will help you retain your color and minimize dryness and sun damage. Stop in and give this unique product a try!

As always, if you have questions about what is the right hair color for you, or how to care for your color, be sure to speak with one of our stylists. They are a knowledgeable team and will make sure you know everything you need to.

So now you know how to make your hair color last longer. Share this post with your friends, because after all, sharing means caring. Just don't offer to share your Aveda Protective Hair Veil, they will need to grab their own.

Winter Skin Tips: Making the Most Out of Your Seasonal Skincare Routine

Here in Michiana the chilly temps and wintry days are still upon us. You may have noticed that winter is in fact still here, not because of the mile high snow drifts outside but because of your dull winter skin. The cold air can wreak havoc on your skin, causing it to look dry, dull, and lifeless.

No fun, not fun at all.

So what can you do? Luckily there are a few things you can do to help beat the winter skin blues. There is no need to walk around town looking dull and lifeless (we wouldn't want travelers to confuse this town for the set of The Walking Dead) when you can instead have the look of springtime in your skin. Take a peek below at how to make the most out of your skincare routine even in the most extreme of weather conditions.

Tip #1: Shorten the showers.
Taking a long, hot shower in the cold winter months feels amazing, but it can actually dry out your skin even further and cause tightness and itchiness. Instead, take 5-10 minute long showers and avoid using extremely hot water.

Tip #2: Love your lips.
Wear Aveda Lipsaver which is SPF15 and keeps lips soft and moisturized. When outside, wear your scarf so that it covers your mouth. This will protect the skin around your lips as well as your lips from becoming dry and wind damaged.

Tip #3: Moisturize daily.
Use an oil free and alcohol free moisturizer on your skin daily to keep it hydrated. This will also help ward off wrinkles, dry patches, discoloration, and other "unpretty" side effects of dry skin.

Try these simple and effective skin care tips, then let us help you beat the winter blues with one of our signature facials!

Why not try the Elemental Nature Facial?
Enjoy a treatment masque and massage combining Aveda's Elemental Nature philosophy and your skin's specific needs — cleansing, hydrating, and balancing body and mind through nurturing aromas and rituals. Sounds heavenly, right? Call the salon if this is something that peaks your interest!

Spring is coming, no worries. But until it gets here, take care of your skin so when the sun does start to shine your face will be ready too.
